Earn from Home: 5 Real Ways to Build a Second Income in 2026
A second income from home is possible. It is not simple, it is not quick, but it is possible - and some routes work better than others depending on the time you have and what you know how to do.
In this guide I honestly compare 5 methods I know, some I have tried myself and others I have seen used by people in my network. The goal is not to sell you a dream: it is to help you choose the right route for you.
In brief:
- Freelancing: almost zero investment, first earnings in 30-60 days if you already have a marketable skill.
- Dropshipping: EUR200-500 investment, first earnings in 90-180 days.
- Affiliate marketing: zero investment with YouTube or social media, or EUR5-15/month hosting with a blog; it still takes 6-12 months before the first earnings.
- Online courses: EUR100-300 investment, with timelines depending on the audience you already have.
- Partner.Co: EUR29.95 investment, retail profit from the first sale.
1. Freelancing: sell skills you already have
How it works: You offer a service on platforms such as Fiverr or Upwork, or directly via LinkedIn and social media. Copywriting, graphic design, translation, social media management, bookkeeping.
Initial investment: Almost zero. A well-built profile.
When you reach your first earnings: 30-60 days if you already have a marketable skill. Longer if you need to build your portfolio from scratch.
Realistic earnings:
- 3 months: EUR0-300/month while building your reputation
- 6 months: EUR300-800/month with regular clients
- 12 months: EUR500-2,000/month, depending on the niche and hourly rate
Main limitation: Time is the bottleneck. The more hours you work, the more you earn. It does not grow by itself.
2. Dropshipping / e-commerce
How it works: You sell products online without holding stock. The supplier ships directly to the customer.
Initial investment: EUR200-500 for the platform, such as Shopify, domain and first advertising campaign.
When you reach your first earnings: 90-180 days, if the advertising campaign works on the first attempt, which often does not happen.
Realistic earnings:
- 3 months: Often at a loss while testing campaigns
- 6 months: Break-even or a small profit if the product is right
- 12 months: EUR300-1,500/month with a validated product
Main limitation: It requires digital marketing skills, ad campaign management and customer service. There is a high dropout rate in the first 6 months.
3. Affiliate marketing and content marketing
How it works: You create content, such as a blog, YouTube channel or TikTok account, around a topic and earn commissions when people buy through your links.
Initial investment: Blog hosting at EUR5-15/month. Or zero if you use YouTube or social media.
When you reach your first earnings: 6-12 months. Search algorithms move slowly.
Realistic earnings:
- 6 months: EUR0-50/month
- 12 months: EUR50-500/month if traffic grows
- 2+ years: EUR500-3,000/month with quality content and volume
Main limitation: The wait for results is the longest of all. It requires consistency for at least 12-18 months before seeing meaningful returns.
4. Online courses and infoproducts
How it works: You create and sell a course on Teachable, Thinkific or directly on Gumroad/Stan Store.
Initial investment: EUR100-300 for platform and production; even a smartphone can be enough to start.
When you reach your first earnings: It depends on the audience you already have. With 0 followers, you may spend 3-6 months just building the audience.
Realistic earnings:
- If you already have an audience: EUR200-2,000/month from the first launch
- If you start from scratch: earnings arrive after you have built the audience
Main limitation: It works very well only if you already have authority on a topic and an audience. Otherwise it requires double work: building the audience AND creating the course.
5. Direct selling with Partner.Co
This is the one I know from the inside - I have been a Partner.Co Independent Brand Partner since 2019.
How it works: You sell a company’s products as an independent representative and earn on three levels: profits from your direct sales, bonuses on the new customers you bring in, and commissions on your team’s activity.
Initial investment: EUR29.95 for the Digital Business Tools, which include access to the Back Office, Partner.Co Share(TM) app, sales tools and virtual training. No fixed monthly fee.
When earnings begin: Retail profit, up to 30% on each product, starts from the first customer sale, with no minimum amount - from EUR1 of commission. To receive the other bonuses, you must qualify: 100 PV from customer sales in a qualifying week within a 4-week cycle. Source: Italy PV FAQ AGCM, Partner.Co, October 2023.
The verified earnings mechanics
The Partner.Co compensation plan provides weekly payments. The main methods are:
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Retail profits | Up to 30% on each full retail price sale to a customer |
| New Volume Bonus (NVB) | From 15% to 30% on purchases by your new customers during the first 4 weeks |
| Base Commissions | 15% of your team’s Pay Line volume each week |
| Savings Bonus | Additional 15% when Base Commissions exceed $250/week |
Mechanical source: Partner.Co Compensation Plan, September 2025 revision.
Is EUR200/week feasible?
With the mechanics of the plan, yes - this is an illustrative example, not a typical result:
| Activity | Potential earnings |
|---|---|
| Personal sales of EUR200/week, retail profits at 30% | ~EUR60 |
| 2 new customers at EUR100, NVB 20% Business level | ~EUR40 |
| Team with ~EUR670 of weekly Pay Line, Base Commissions at 15% | ~EUR100 |
| Total potential | ~EUR200/week |
This level requires an active team and regular sales - it is a medium-term objective, typically 6-12+ months from the start. In the very first months the numbers are lower; progression depends on commitment and the network built.
Income disclaimer: Earnings are not guaranteed and are the result of personal work and experience. Results are not guaranteed and may vary based on commitment, personal network and market conditions. Consult the Income Disclosure Statement and the official Compensation Plan for complete information.
Realistic earnings over time:
- Months 1-3: First commissions once qualification is reached; building phase
- Months 4-6: Initial second income, variable for each person
- Months 7-12: Progression based on commitment and volume
Main limitation: Like any business, it requires commitment and consistency. It does not work if you expect automatic earnings without sales activity.

Which one should you choose?
Choose freelancing if you already have a marketable skill and want to earn quickly.
Choose affiliate marketing if you want to build something passive in the long term and have the patience for 12+ months without significant income.
Choose online courses if you already have an audience or authority in a niche.
Choose dropshipping if you have the budget to test campaigns and tolerance for initial financial risk.
Consider Partner.Co if you want a second income with a minimal initial investment, a ready-made system and support from someone who has been doing it for years - knowing that results depend on your personal effort and that earnings are not guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
How much investment do you need to start earning from home?
It depends on the method. Freelancing requires almost zero investment, just a well-built profile. Affiliate marketing can start from zero if you use YouTube or social media, or EUR5-15/month if you choose a hosted blog. Partner.Co requires EUR29.95 for the Digital Business Tools. Online courses and infoproducts require EUR100-300 for platform and production. Dropshipping requires EUR200-500 for platform, domain and first advertising campaign.
How long does it take before the first earnings?
It varies a lot from method to method. Freelancing can bring first earnings in 30-60 days if you already have a marketable skill. Dropshipping generally requires 90-180 days. Affiliate marketing and content marketing require 6-12 months before the first earnings because of search algorithm timelines. With online courses, timing depends on the audience you already have. With Partner.Co, retail profit starts from the first sale, while other bonuses first require qualification.
What is the main limitation of each method?
In freelancing, time is the bottleneck: the more hours you work, the more you earn, and it does not grow by itself. In dropshipping, you need digital marketing and ad campaign management skills, with a high dropout rate in the first 6 months. In affiliate marketing, the wait for results is the longest, with consistency required for 12-18 months. Online courses work well only if you already have authority and an audience; otherwise you need to build both in parallel. With Partner.Co, as in any business, commitment and consistency are required: there are no automatic earnings without sales activity.
